The Amigos Club de Bowling Club Championship sponsored by Ibex Insurance

was held over the weekend of 16th and 17th April 2016. A reduced number of entries due to a number of qualifiers either ill or had other arrangements such as airport collections, and trips back to the UK meant we only had 26 entries.

However, this did not diminish from the excitement and competiton over the weekend. We would especially like to thank our members from Torrevieja, who, despite their own club moving their monthly tournament to the same weekend as ours insisted on showing some respect for ours and entering our tournament.

The Ibex Championship was won for the second year by a Septuagenarian. Alex Bain won it last year and Dave Love this year. Dave beat Phil Taylor in an exciting final that saw Dave take a commanding lead of 80 pins after game one. Game two started with Dave´s lead increased to 104 with the difference in handicaps. But Phil came back at him to lose the match by just 27 pins. Dave is a very popular winner and well deserved the victory as he was seeded one after the first round of qualifiers with a superb 716. He maintained an excellent standard breaking 600 in all his five matches.
